A short time ago, in a chatroom not far away, where universes meet (among others, the Gargoyles universe, the real world and different other realities), the visitors were facing a dire threat: Spam, the scourge of the internet.
To get the situation back under control, the master of the chatroom hired a guardian to keep the spam outside - a great black dragon.
As you can see, the sheer amount of spam was staggering, and the bots brought more and more, like the brooms brought more and more water to the sorcerer's apprentice. Just like this apprentice, the dragon couldn't stop the incoming spam, even though he gave a good fight. In the end, the Spam won...
This did not bode well for the chatroom. In fact, there were times where there was so much spam inside, that nobody would fit into the room to chat. Of course, the chatroom master wasn't happy, so he decided to add a second guardian. This time, he put the control not into the claws of a mighty (but rather helpless) dragon, but into the powerful grips of a robot. He decided to fight bots with a bot. At the door, there now is an identity check...
... and you can see what happens to somebody who fails that check. Ever since that day, the chatroom has been mostly spam-free. Sure, sometimes a single bot passes the control, because he found a fake identity... but what is a single spam message after that storm?
And so, they chatted happily ever after....
