There often comes a time when an artist imagines themselves and people they know in the world(s) of their illustrations. So this month we've decided to turn the pencil and paintbrush towards...well..ourselves! Draw yourself (the artist), or if you feel shy; another artist, as a Gargoyle! If you're one of the many who already have, draw a new picture of gargoyle-you, pencil shavings, paint stained fingers and all! And most of all, have fun!:)

Title: Lady Foxglove Artist: Lynn (Lady Foxglove) This is Lady Foxglove, and this is my first submission to the MGC. This is my original character, Lady Foxglove, my online persona. Perhaps she's lacking the pencil and sketchbook I've always got with me, but this is probably one of the best Foxglove pics I've done! |

Title: "Sapphire at work" Artist: Sapphire [The Isle Of Coloden] I made this as accurate as possible (meaning i went thru eight pieces of paper before i kept a sketch.) obviously we had to be as close to our true selves as possible. I really sit like that (slouching, my elbows off the table, staring at the keyboard as i type, my feet resting on the wheels of my rolling chair) and thats really what i wear (one of my fave outfits) and all the objects in the pic are drawn from my stuff at work. i spend most of my time, at work and at home, on the computer. (at home its a laptop tho.) but i spend most of my day looking just like that (minus the wings), more than any other thing. even sleeping. (i work nine hours, and only sleep six.) so this is a very accurate pic, down to the thin arms and fat thighs! (special thanx to Siryn for her coloring tips) my boss said it wasnt accurate, there are no cookies on the desk (im a cookie-aholic) so... |

Title: Caryn Artist: Railiens [Railien's Webpage] This is me (the real me, Caryn ) as a gargoyle...very modernish. My skin is dark so I emphasized that and my hair is brown. I made this picture realistic looking (sortof). The idea of me as a gargoyle with feathered wings was inspired by Aimee Major's gargoyle character, Raven. I really had fun drawing this and seeing myself as a gargoyle :) |

Title: Untitled Artist: cheerio [cheerio's Webpage] Lets see. I came to MGC and looked at the topic. I wasn't sure if i wanted to draw a picture of me as a gargie, but i decided too. Drawn, inked, scanned, and colored in a day. Which is a new record for me. ^_^ I'm still going to try different techniques when it comes to coloring. Like how Long Vo colors. I'm so jealous of him. Him and Eisu, Aimo, and Ian Kim. They are the best Fan-Artists on the web. ANYWAYZ! :) Hope you like the picture! ^_^ Ja ne! |

Title: Untitled Artist: Lady Shadow [Lady Shadow's Webpage] This pic was done for my new site, an annoyed LS as an artist demanding that her art not be taken, it's to be used in the disclaimer section...:D |

Title: Untitled Artist: Amy K. Cyrway [Amy K. Cyrway's Webpage] C'est Moi! Sunglasses, check, Monster Magnet tee-shirt, check, omni-present band-aid, of course! And what artist is complete without her weapon of choice, in this case, a double-ended X-acto knife! >:) |

Title: Untitled Artist: Jen De Salme a.k.a. Mercedes [Mercedes's Webpage] I've never drawn myself as a garg. Sure, I have Chimura and Mercedes, but they're mostly fanfic characters/ online personas. This one is really me, scruffy brown hair, silver watch, and all the rest. There is a story behind the giant spatula, though. One of my friends at school got me adicted to Ranma 1/2, a Japanese anime for those who don't know. Anyway, that same friend now refers to me as "Ukyou", one of the characters in the show. She's an okonamiyaki chef and wields a giant combat spatula and mini spatula shuriken. So, because of that nic, I tend to carry around a giant spatula whenever I'm in chat! |

Title: Untitled Artist: Aimee Major [Aimee's Studio] I sat around all month trying to think of an interesting way to draw myself as a gargoyle, since I've already drawn it several times. Then at the last minute I got an idea.... since this is an "artist" topic I thought it was fitting, that I do a pic in the style of one of my favorite art movements. I've never tried to draw in the style of Art Nouveau before, even though I love the way the artwork of that period looks. So the colors, layout and drawing style are meant to be a tribute to those artists. I hope you guys enjoy it, it was definitely a challenge. |

Title: Untitled Artist: Ebony [Ebony's Webpage] I make a pretty uninteresting gargoyle, but that's it: less is more. My basic supply list: writing utensils, a swivel chair, and a sketch book from Border's Bookshop (customized with little swirling patterns that you can't really see, so you'll just have to take me at my word that they're there). The only big elements missing would be any technological perks (like the scanner, the computer, or Photoshop). But they're a given, right? |
